Usually not to the extent you need. Most travel insurance policies either exclude scuba diving entirely, or limit coverage to recreational depths with significant deductible thresholds. Critically, they rarely cover recompression chamber treatment or specialized dive medical evacuation. DAN insurance is designed to fill exactly those gaps.

DAN insurance works as secondary coverage: it picks up what your primary insurer does not pay. Even with comprehensive health insurance, most policies exclude or severely limit coverage for dive-specific conditions like DCS, barotrauma, and hyperbaric treatment. DAN covers the difference. They work together, not in competition.
